Numedal Style
The painters of Numedal were either influenced by Hallingdal or Telemark styles. The use of round Baroque rosette flowers and scrolls simulating the acanthus vine with Rococo ornamentation were quite evident in the painting of churches, trunks and many household utensils in this valley. Dark background colors as well as a dark barn red were often used. The typical designs were painted in reds, greens, and slate blue.
