Aust Agder Style
The Aust Agder style was highly influenced by the Telemark and Vest Agder painters and has ties to the folk art of Denmark across the waters. Reds and greens were favorite colors painted on black and very dark blue backgrounds. The wreath motif was brought in from Denmark. Stroked roses were the commonly painted flower. The scrolls although influenced by the Telemark style, were a bit more thick. Aust Agder painting looks a bit softer and fuller than Vest Agder painting. The Aust Agder style was painted in the Setesdal Valley.
