Jurene participates annually, in Norwegian rosemaling competitions at the
"Vesterheim Norwegian/American Museum",
where her work won "Best in Show". In July 2002, she was awarded
the highly coveted "Vesterheim Gold Metal".
For many years Jurene While's decorative
painting has become a landmark in the many commercial and residential spaces
in Southern California. Jurene was honored to have several of her original
Christmas ornaments accepted by the Smithsonian Institute and The White
House for their holiday collections. Jurene continues to educate and interest
others in the ways of decorative folk art through television and other special
events. Her community and fellow artists have richly rewarded her with many
accolades and commendations.
